City Farm Kids

We obviously live away from the farmlands of Kansas, but we have a great petting zoo and farmstead a few minutes away from our house.  This experience used to be very traumatic for Maelyn and she would be very stressed at the amounts of animals and fur.  She wouldn't go near the goat pen or even the fence that kept them inside.  Now that Stella has joined our family, Maelyn is now a great animal lover.  She was petting goats, feeding them without hesitation and trying to hold them!  It is great to see her fear vanish.  Tristyn is always worried about the germs, washing her hands after every contact with the animals and we're not sure that fear is going away anytime soon...she comes by it honestly.  Rylen is pretty naive when it comes to animals.  He wasn't at all hesitant about feeding them, but Daddy almost lost him in the goat-fight for the food pellets.  His absolute favorite part of the day was a toss up between the tractors and the cow bells!  We absolutely had a great day and we can't wait to head back more over the summer months.

Rylen is only beginning his quest to wallow in mud and do everything he can to become a "farmer". Every boy, city or not, I've found to love tractors, animals, and poop :) ~Matt
