Daddy - Daughter Dance

We celebrated one of my favorite events of the year last night with our annual Daddy - Daughter Dance.   It was somewhat bittersweet due to the fact that this was Tristyn's last year she could attend this particular dance but we went out with some great memories.  We enjoyed dinner beforehand at Red Robin and then pretty well danced the remainder of the night.   Maelyn's favorite part of the night was dancing and singing to the 'The Chicken Dance' and 'YMCA' and Tristyn's favorite song was Taylor Swift's 'We are never ever getting back together'.   My favorites had to be Neil Diamonds 'Sweet Caroline' and 'Cinderella' by Steven Curtis Chapman.

I was exhausted as I got home after three hours of dancing but it was well worth it.  The last dance of the night was 'Cinderella' and it reminded me again of the importance of spending time with my girls while they are here with me and keeping them a priority over my job, activities, and hobbies.  I am blessed to have two amazing daughters and I praise God for them.

Lyrics to Cinderella-
She spins and she sways to whatever song plays,
Without a care in the world.
And I'm sitting here wearing the weight of the world on my shoulders.
It's been a long day and there's still work to do,
She's pulling at me saying "Dad I need you!
There's a ball at the castle and I've been invited and I need to practice my dancin'"
"Oh please, daddy, please!"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone.

She says he's a nice guy and I'd be impressed
She wants to know if I approve of the dress
She says, "Dad the prom is just one week away
And I need to practice my dancin'
"Oh please, daddy , please!"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone

But she came home today with a ring on her hand
Just glowin' and tellin' us all they had planned
She says, "Dad the wedding's still six months away but I need to practice my dancin'
"Oh please, daddy , please!"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone

I think there is no set of sisters on earth that have a better Dad than Troy.
