Happy Birthday Little Mister
Yesterday Rylen turned 2 years old! He enjoyed his most favorite meal of mac n' cheese and grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner. Then we had some yummy chocolate cupcakes and blew out two candles. When we got his gifts out, he wasn't sure what to do but Maelyn got him started and Tristyn helped him finish. The Lightning McQueen, Tractor and flashy red car with real doors were much more exciting than his box of a basketball hoop. Once Daddy set it up, he dunked some balls and gave some good shots. But then he returned to his cars and played with them for the rest of the night. And let me give you an example of the rest of the night.
7:30p - Bedtime. Has his 2 cars clutched in his hands. We planned to just take them away once he fell asleep.
8:30p - Still hear zooming and crashing of the cars from his room. Troy gets him up so he can play around the living room with them and then returns him to bed.
9:30p - Still zooming and crashing along with some unhappy chatter and tired whining. We are both wondering aloud what to do next. Troy gets him out of bed again to play a little.
10:00p - We realize we're going to have to remove the cars from his hands and hide them. Every attempt is met with super human baby strength grasps and huge tears saying, "Ry Ry hold cars". Troy offers the ever popular sippy of milk and they are released from his hands onto the couch. Mommy hides them and we're off to bed....again! There was one request of his cars, which was ignored, and he was asleep in no time.
6:00a - "Ry, Ry cars?" from his room. "It's not time to get up yet, Rylen." Sad and tearing up, "Ry, Ry cars!" "Ry, Ry cars!"
And the day begins!
Riding to take the girls to school with his new cars!
