Annual Ice Skating

The girls heading out to skate...cheeks pink with the cold air.
All of us trying to stay upright while a quick photo is taken.
Tristyn skating off on her own, doing pretty good.
Maelyn getting a little help from Mom.
For the past few years on Tristyn's birthday, we head to Crown Center to ice skate. Or to try! This year it was sleeting, blowing and freezing. We figured we'd be the lucky ones with the rink to ourselves, but it was pretty crowded. Tristyn is always hesitant at first, but got more comfortable as she went along. Maelyn, of course, thought she belonged in the pairs Olympic Skating category with Daddy and spent significant time on the ice. She isn't able to free skate on her own, which involves almost carrying her between your legs while trying to keep yourself upright. And she's starting to get heavier! What a spectacle. They would decide they needed a break, head off the ice for 30 seconds and then jump up to go again. It was rather exhausting for Troy and I. After we'd had enough of the cold temperatures and the freezing rain, we turned our skates back in and enjoyed some hot chocolate and chinese take out!
