Fussy Wednesday

Poor Maelyn is upset about something today. Either it's lack of sleep from the time change and newness of room sharing OR she's getting sick. She's been fussy all morning and out of sorts with everything. After attempting a few phone calls this morning, I had to give up and focus all my attention on improving her mood. Which didn't work too well and we finally headed out for a trip to the library for storytime. Sadly, they were out of tickets and full for the day. Hearing that news, Maelyn dropped her red library bag to the floor and drooped her shoulders and face into the most mournful frown I've ever seen. So we made up for it with some Elmo DVDs and then headed to McDonald's for some playtime and lunch. After an hour of scurrying up the tubes to the slide and an ice cream cone, we were headed back home for a nap. When she realized it was naptime and not Elmo-video time, she was again back in her funk. I let her wear her underwear on top of her diaper for her nap and that seemed to make her a little happier since going back to diapers from underwear is the ultimate insult these days! So hopefully a good nap and a great sunny afternoon will cheer her up towards the end of the day. (and a few Oreo cookies couldn't hurt, right?)
